Birds are exotic creatures that come in all shapes and colors. Many also have beautiful patterns on their bodies that make them unique.
Animal analysts have estimated that there are about 50 billion to 430 billion birds on Earth.
Lately, blue and yellow birds are some of the most popular species, which is why I decided to dedicate an article to those beautiful avians.

Prothonotary Warblers
Scientific Name: Protonotaria citrea
Size: 4.5 – 5.6 inches

The Prothonotary Warbler is a large-bodied bird that often hops along with twigs and branches in the woods. When they are on the ground, they also utilize the hopping way of locomotion.
These birds prefer such a way of movement in order to conserve energy due to their weight. If they had to fly and carry their bodies, they would expend all their energy in under an hour.
Another reason they hop is because of their extremely short legs and tails when you compare them to other warblers.
The prothonotary warbler is predominantly yellow, but its wing feathers come in a blue-greyish color. The males of this species are way more prominent than the females. However, the females have stronger and thicker beaks which they use for feeding and overall survival.
Prothonotary Warblers care for their young extremely well, choosing to nest in tree holes made by woodpeckers and nest boxes in wooden swamps. You can also find these birds deep in the forest, resting or feeding their young.

Eurasian Blue Tits
Scientific Name: Cyanistes caeruleus
Size: 4.5 – 4.9 inches
Feather Color: Yellow, blue, black, white
Eurasian Blue Tits are beautiful birds with blue and yellow feathers that usually inhabit thick forests and gardens.
Although it is a close cousin of the great Tit, it has way higher energy levels. You can always find them moving around or feeding.
Animal experts claim these birds will sometimes eat 100 times a day!
Besides their unusual appetite, Eurasian Blue Tits also have a very distinctive design – a blue cap and a white face characterized by a dark line beneath their eyes.
This makes it extremely easy for you to spot them in the forest, garden, and even hedges.
Interestingly, these birds are also quite vocal. If you stop to listen to them, you can hear their high-pitched vocals and sounds.
Eurasian Blue Tits usually live in subarctic regions across Europe. They also don’t migrate and are, for the most part, resident types of birds.
Northern Parulas
Scientific Name: Setophaga americana
Size: 4.3 – 4.7 inches
Feather Color: Yellow, blue-gray, white
Northern Parulas are small-bodied wood-warblers that like to live in deductions forests. However, when push comes to shove, they can also live in evergreen forests.
Many Northern Parulas have a blueish-gray color with a yellow patch on their backs and chests. A part of their wings are white, as well as their bellies. These birds also have beady eyes encircled by white crescents.
Like the prothonotary Warblers, they also love to hop on branches and dead twigs in deciduous and evergreen forests. As they do this, they continuously search their environment for new insects to devour.
Northern Parulas are the most vocal during mating seasons. Their males make mating calls, and the females are always more than happy to fly in the direction of these calls.
The mature males are darker in color than the immature ones. Also, the younger ones have a greenish-yellow patch rather than a bright yellow.
Nashville Warblers

These beautiful blue and yellow birds are absolute delights to watch! Their unmistakably high energy and their adept survival skills are attractive, to say the least.
They love to be vocal, making noises that often sound like musical notes.
Like many birds, Nashville Warblers are beady-eyed, with a white circle surrounding these eyes. Because of its grey hoods, looking at this bird makes you see the sharp contrasts between its colors (no wonder they are so much attractive to bird watchers).
If you want to find these warblers, try to search around growing forests. They migrate once or twice a year, along with other bird species, looking for food, water, and suitable habitat to survive.
The Nashville Warblers are incredibly resourceful when creating their habitats. In fact, they are popularly known to use porcupine quills to build their nests.
Painted Buntings
Scientific Name: Passerina ciris
Size: 4.7 – 5.5 inches
Feather Color: Yellow, blue, green, red
The Painted Bunting is arguably one of the most beautiful birds in the world. The first thing you would notice about them is that they’re multi-colored.
With its red underparts, yellow-green back, and blue head, it’s hard to miss this particular bird.
These fascinating birds live and nest in shrubby and sparsely woody areas.
The Painted Buntings are popularly found in two regions of the world. The larger population grows in the South-Central area of the United States and Mexico. In contrast, the smaller one grows along the Atlantic Coast.
Unfortunately, because of their beautiful colorful feathers, they are the target of many predators.
These birds find it hard to escape as their bright appearance gives them away quickly. Many humans also attempt to catch and/or kill these amazing birds for their interests.
As a result, Painted Buntings have been endangered for quite some time.

Blue and Yellow Macaws
Scientific Name: Ara ararauna
Size: 2.7 – 3 feet
Feather Color: Yellow, blue, green, white
Blue and Yellow Macaws are one of the most popular groups of parrots. Known for their beautiful appearance and talkative attitude, they are loved by many people.
Blue and Yellow Macaws have blue wings and golden underparts. while their face is mostly white. They also have green foreheads and a blue tail.
They can be found in several parts of Southern America, such as Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Usually, they love to thrive and breed in swampy rainforests in these areas.
These parrots start breeding and parenting their children when they are about 3-4 years of age. Like humans, many pair forever and live in a small family system.
Blue and Yellow Macaws are also known to be highly intelligent. They can solve multiple complex problems and can adapt to many situations.
Unfortunately, they are starting to become endangered in some parts of the world.
Blue-winged Warblers
Scientific Name: Vermivora cyanoptera
Size: 4.3 – 4.7 inches
Feather Color: Yellow, blue-gray
The Blue-winged Warbler is a well-proportioned bird that loves to dangle from shrubs. Similar to chickadees, these birds hang upside down from shrubs and forage in this position.
Blue-winged Warblers have bodies that are made up of yellow and grayish-blue colors. Their chests are commonly a bright yellow, while their backs and wings are a pale blue, almost gray color. Both males and females have blue-gray wings and beady eyes.
During the breeding seasons, these birds use these traits to their advantage. Along with their melodious voices, they use their bodies to attract possible mates.
These small-sized yellow and blue birds love to build habitats in brushy fields and on the edges of forests.
Blue-winged Warblers often migrate, choosing to join flocks that have mixed species. This keeps them safe from a lot of harm and gives the birds a sense of belonging.
Tropical Kingbirds
Scientific Name: Tyrannus melancholicus
Size: 7.1 – 9.1 inches
Feather Color: Yellow, pale blue, gray
Tropical Kingbirds can be found anywhere and everywhere. Like Painted Buntings, the Tropical Kingbird loves to thrive and nest in places with just the right amount of wood and shrubs.
They can’t live in thick forests or open areas, but you can usually spot them in parks, bushes, towns, and even rural areas.
When you look at this bird, you first notice its bright yellow breasts. Its back is grey-blue, and its feathers and tail have a dark gray-brown color.
Remember how we said you can find this bird anywhere? If you look up at the telephone wires for a while, you’re bound to see some of them perched up there, waiting for new insects to consume.
Don’t step too close, though. These birds are known to defend their territory from intruders with all they have.
The Verdict
There are dozens of beautiful birds all around the world, and they come in all shapes and sizes. As you may expect, some are more beautiful than others.
That said, above are eight of the most beautiful blue and yellow birds. When trying to study them in the wilds, don’t get too close. Some of these birds will get startled and fly away immediately, while others will turn very aggressive towards you.
